One of the top temples on the Nile valley that your boat or Nile cruise would have to stop by on your way down to Aswan. Kom Ombo temple is a double temple dedicated to two gods, Horus the elder and his wife goddess Hathor, mainly is god of victory and healing and Sobek, god of crocodiles. It was built in the Ptolemaic dynasty and takes after Greco-Roman architecture features.
Edfu Temple or rather be called Horus Temple, the falcon-headed god or the sky god whose eyes were the sun and the moon. Horus temple is the first complete second biggest temple after Karnak's in Egypt that was built in the Ptolemaic Dynasty.
On our way from Edfu Temple to Kom Ombo Temple in Aswan, actually the most spectacular heritage of Ancient Egypt and pharaohs in ptolemaic ages, we’ve settled for one night at Gebel Silsila (hill of chains), which is a great site that looks like a side hill of highs and lows sandstone formations that you won’t get to see except in daylight. Gebel Silsila is an ancient quarry that ancient Egyptians used to extract stones for columns and walls of those great temples.
Did you know that Philae Temple sruvived 40 years of being submerged under water and was removed, divided and reassembled back on Agilika island? 550 meters away from Philae island where it originally belonged, it was was rescued to stand as a magnificent temple of the Ancient Egypt. It was a whole restoration project that intended to save the temple from submerging in water after building the High Dam of Aswan. Absolutely, in the eyes of everyone, was quite a successful project in cooperation with Egyptian government and UNESCO to re-establish Philae complex again on safe grounds as sacred monuments in 1960.
