Sandboarding On Sand Mattresses

An Exciting Moment on a Sand Dune

During our Desert Safari’s drive, our drivers, all of a sudden had stopped at the edge of a very high slippy sand dune almost at a mountain view distance, leaving us wondering if we’ll crossover with our Land Cruisers or not. ‘No way!’ probably that was the scariest part of all.  Surprisingly this was it, the moment where Sandboards were uploaded from our cars.

Sandboarding is the "Sport" of the Desert

Unlike snowboarding, sandboarding is less popular I guess because it is hard to build some kind of a ski sand lift machine over sand dunes so each time you sandboard you have to go up the sand dune again manually, but eventually it is a very sportive activity standing with both feet strapped on a board sliding over sand dunes, some people don’t use any straps attached to their feet, but then they would be pros and more dangerous people. Again some will slide sitting down, which is what I actually did first time I sandboarded, which was fun, later I started standing on the sandboard and slided off the dune, others will sleep face down on the board!!!! So you gotta try your options, really it's worth every slide.

Sand boards are built of wood, they somehow look like skate boards just without the wheels, and provided with sandboarding wax, it will make it smoother on sand for you to slide easily on the sand.

Falling is a main ingredient of the game, so no worries, desert sand turned out to be the best natural mattresses or cushion like grounds!

Just don’t forget to bring a bottle of water, because it’ll be hot and sunny.
