Arabian nightsLike Arabian days
More often than not
Are hotter than hot
In a lot of good ways
Arabian nights
Neath Arabian moons
A fool off his guard
Could fall and fall hard
Out there on the dunes —Aladdin
Aladdin’s song!!! Yep! That’s exactly how it felt like out there around a joyful camping fire in the desert on the softest sand carpets ever, right under the open skies of the moon light and clear stars at night. Magical it was, you’d wish you had come from the desert and you were born as a Bedouin! Check A Trooper's Journal Safari in Bahariya Oasis.
After the amazing cooking we had in this camping fire, dinner to this day, still lingers vividly in my head, the gathering, the taste, the chicken, the meat, and the rice, aaaah, everything was too delicious and so much fun! Bedouins actually grilled chicken and a DANDY. That was sure something like no other BBQ you can have at home, the dandy was actually cooked the Bedouins’ way, under the sand! Bedouins use the hot sand as a medium for cooking, as an oven, and it actually works. Nothing can ever compare to that night’s deliciousness with the best cooked and fully done meat and chicken. Remembering this experience, is making me hungry already.
After this incredible dinner, all you would want to do and actually are able to do is just lay down on the natural sand mattress around the camping fire enjoying the breeze of fire and the air all at one time. ‘Abd El Rahman’ who was our flute entertainer and “Mohamed” our folkloric drum player started enchanting us with their Bedouin music bringing the energy of the night desert back to us. Around the fire every night we would enjoy a loud and crazy time together, singing, laughing and dancing. Bedouin dance is something to learn and it is easy and fun, just follow the bedouin moves. During those nights we would take out our guitar and start playing along modern music with folkloric music, Bedouins actually loved that! We used to improvise our own music and songs making up unique desert music around the fire camp.
In order to live the whole experience of dancing around a Bedouin camping fire at night in the desert, you need to look like a Bedouin and so you should wear a Galabiya (Jellabiya in Arabic) and hold a Bedouin stick. Most likely this is how Bedouins dress like, and it’s usually a type of garment sort of dress like outfit, and applied on men and women. There are lots of fashionable models for women to choose from, beaded with colorful ornaments and beads. With men usually it’ll be plain but with various colors. Make the best out of your Arabian Nights out there in your desert safari.

Wish I could have joined this adventure! This is a must for everybody coming to Egypt and seeking for the real Egyptian life :)
I've been to the White Desert 3 times, and one more amazing thing about this sort of "Arabian Nights" is when I would go away from the camp after dinner, lie on a cold-by-then sand dune, and try to count the stars. 2 things I haven't seen elsewhere: ONE: the absolute ZERO-decibel! no noise, no car horns far away, no wind breeze swirling in the tree leaves, and no nightingales! for instance i would doubt i went deaf. TWO: the galaxy is exposed, revealed! millions of stars shine in different degrees. I would always try to start from a constellation I know as a reference point, then get lost in the infinity of the majestic, sideral cosmos.
